Even within the relatively more-affordable condo market, prices have climbed out of reach for many.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal have far-and-away the highest per-square-foot condo prices in the country, according to a new survey from Century 21 Canada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vancouver\u2019s west side came in first place, with condos priced at an average of $1147 psf, followed by Toronto\u2019s downtown ($903 psf), west Vancouver ($899 psf), Vancouver-proper ($856 psf) and Vancouver\u2019s east side ($721, psf).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brian Rushton, executive VP of Century 21 Canada, notes that while Toronto didn\u2019t come in first place, its prices were up 10 percent year-over-year. Meanwhile, the fast-warming Montreal market made its way into 9th spot, with condos in its downtown core coming in at $603 psf.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?attachment_id=10840\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10840\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-10840\" src=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/condo-buyers-288x172.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"575\" height=\"343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/condo-buyers-288x172.png 288w, https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/condo-buyers-768x458.png 768w, https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/condo-buyers.png 1054w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be very interesting to compare this year\u2019s survey to next years\u2019 given the impacts in some metropolitan centres of new legislation, restrictions on foreign ownership, rising interest rates, and global trade conflicts this past summer,\u201d writes Rushton, in a statement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The survey also asked 1,000 Canadians how close their current living situation is to their ideal. Up to 21 percent of respondents in Vancouver reported their current living situation as being \u201cfar from\u201d their ideal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is not surprising that in those communities where housing prices are highest more people reported their living arrangement is far from their ideal,\u201d writes Rushton. \u201cInterestingly, across Canada it wasn\u2019t until people were well into their 50\u2019s that a majority said their situation was at or close to ideal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cheapest neighbourhood to buy in Canada?
