{"id":11188,"date":"2018-12-19T08:08:50","date_gmt":"2018-12-19T16:08:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?p=11188"},"modified":"2018-12-19T09:14:00","modified_gmt":"2018-12-19T17:14:00","slug":"vancouver-home-prices-climb-2-3-in-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/2018\/12\/vancouver-home-prices-climb-2-3-in-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Vancouver Home Prices Climb 2.3% in November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Greater Vancouver average home prices grew 2.3% annually in November, even as prices declined 1.9% for BC as a whole.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Data released December 14 from the BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) reveals average home prices in Greater Vancouver climbed from $1,026,506 in November 2017 to $1,050,151 in November 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The average home price in BC, however, slid year over year from $722,859 to $708,903.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBC households continue to struggle with the sharp decline in purchasing power caused by the B20 mortgage stress test,\u201d BCREA chief economist Cameron Muir said in a release, referring to federal guidelines for financial institutions introduced in January 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMost BC regions are now exhibiting relative balance between supply and demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The BCREA noted 5,179 unit sales were recorded by the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) \u2014 down 33.1% from the 7,736 sales recorded 12 months earlier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Greater Vancouver experienced even sharper declines, falling 42.3% year over year from 2,831 sales to 1,633 sales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biv.com\/article\/2018\/12\/vancouver-home-prices-climb-23-bc-prices-make-their-descent\">Vancouver Home Prices Climb 2.3% as BC Prices Make Their Descent<\/a> by Tyler Orton | Business in Vancouver<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greater Vancouver average home prices grew 2.3% annually in November, even as prices declined 1.9% for BC as a whole.
