Here\u2019s a handy summer outdoor home maintenance checklist of 30 items to look at \u2013 from top to bottom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Roof, gutters and downspouts<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Have your roof inspected for loose or missing shingles; repair and replace.<br \/>\n\u2022 Clean gutters and downspouts.<br \/>\n\u2022 Clean the chimney and have it checked for strength.<br \/>\n\u2022 Have any skylights inspected, sealed and repaired.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Windows, Doors and Garage Doors<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Check that caulking and weather-stripping is in good repair.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ensure all hardware such locks and handles work well.<br \/>\n\u2022 Replace cracked panes.<br \/>\n\u2022 Replace rotted wood framing or ledges.<br \/>\n\u2022 Repaint frames and ledges for protection.<br \/>\n\u2022 Repair or repaint doors.<br \/>\n\u2022 Repair and clean screens.<br \/>\n\u2022 Wash windows \u2013 enjoy the clean view!<br \/>\n\u2022 Fix, maintain or replace garage door or sections, tracks, spring or rollers.<br \/>\n\u2022 Clean and maintain the garage door opener.<br \/>\n\u2022 Book a handyman for help!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Porch, patio, decking and walkways<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Clean your porch, patio stones, walkway and deck of stains from grease, rust, food and dirt.<br \/>\n\u2022 Re-lay patio stones that may have shifted during winter; use fresh screening to block weeds.<br \/>\n\u2022 Repair wooden decking and steps to ensure wood is strong and screws and brackets are tight.<br \/>\n\u2022 Re-stain wood to make it waterproof.<br \/>\n\u2022 Check porch columns to ensure they are strong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Driveway<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Fill cracks and patch crumbled areas.<br \/>\n\u2022 Reseal for protection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lighting<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Clean lighting and replace cracked or damaged fixtures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Faucets and Electrical Outlets<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Fix leaky faucets.<br \/>\n\u2022 Check that outdoor outlets are working and protected with covers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Walls and Foundation<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Fill cracks, holes and areas where dirt and grass have sunk around your foundation.<br \/>\n\u2022 Look for shifting or loose bricks and stones; repair or replace.<br \/>\n\u2022 Repair or replace broken, loose siding or damaged stucco.<br \/>\n\u2022 Repaint all exterior features that need protecting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Outdoor Appliances<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Clean your air conditioner; clear away debris; check that hookups are sound.<br \/>\n\u2022 Inspect your barbecue for rust or decay and that pipes and valves are secure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While this checklist applies to house maintenance, summer is also a great time to clean up your lawn, gardens and landscaping.
