{"id":13206,"date":"2019-07-30T11:11:53","date_gmt":"2019-07-30T18:11:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?p=13206"},"modified":"2019-07-18T09:36:15","modified_gmt":"2019-07-18T16:36:15","slug":"most-canadians-are-willing-to-compromise-to-buy-a-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/2019\/07\/most-canadians-are-willing-to-compromise-to-buy-a-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Most Canadians are Willing to Compromise to Buy a Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you\u2019ve ever thought of picking up and leaving your city because it\u2019s too expensive, you\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">High housing costs have many Canadians mulling moves to other cities, a new poll suggests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some 54 percent of those polled are willing to resettle in a different Canadian city to buy a home, according to a finder.com-commissioned survey of 1,200 that pollsters OnePoll conducted this March.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWith the cost of property through the roof in many of Canada\u2019s major cities, buying a home can seem out of reach,\u201d reads a finder.com report releasing the survey results.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYet homeownership remains a goal for many Canadians, and those who are unable to afford the place of their dreams are often willing to compromise,\u201d the report continues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not all age groups are equally keen on setting down roots in a new place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While 85 percent of Gen Z adults, who range in age from 18 to 24, are up for a change, while just 26 percent of respondents over the age of 65 say the same.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe older you are, the less likely you are to be open to moving \u2014 likely because older Canadians already own their homes or are set in their cities,\u201d finder.com explains.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Close to 70 percent of Millennials and their precursors in the 35-to-44 age group say they would move to another city to buy a home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Saying and doing are two different things, notes Angus Kidman, finder.com\u2019s editor in chief.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHowever being willing to move somewhere and actually doing it are two different things.
