{"id":1655,"date":"2016-04-19T10:10:36","date_gmt":"2016-04-19T17:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?p=1655"},"modified":"2016-04-19T09:13:28","modified_gmt":"2016-04-19T16:13:28","slug":"sizzling-markets-on-investors-radar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/2016\/04\/sizzling-markets-on-investors-radar\/","title":{"rendered":"Sizzling Markets on Investors\u2019 Radar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These are the markets investors may want to target, if current trends continue.<br \/>\nCanadian home sales set a record in March, due in part to a number of hot markets experiencing home price gains.<br \/>\nHere is a cross-country glimpse at the markets that enjoyed the largest price hikes last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>British Columbia<\/strong><br \/>\nThe red-hot market in Vancouver is spreading outward, as would-be buyers are priced out of the major city\u2019s market. This is evident in the massive gains made in some of those markets.<br \/>\nFraser Valley \u2013 the average home price increased 29% year-over-year in March<br \/>\nChilliwack : +20.3%<br \/>\nGreater Vancouver : +22.6%<br \/>\nPowell River : +14.9%<br \/>\nVancouver Islan : +14.5%<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Alberta<\/strong><br \/>\nUnfortunately, oil woes continue to plague the province. The average price in Alberta fell 1.7% year-over-year in March, with markets such South Central Alberta (-25.7%), Lloydminster (-21%), and Fort McMurray (-20.2%) hit the hardest.<br \/>\nWith that said, some speculative investors may be tempted to jump into the market if they believe prices have bottomed out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Saskatchewan<\/strong><br \/>\nSome modest gains were made in certain Saskatchewan markets.<br \/>\nMoose Jay led the way, with the average home price increasing 19.5% year-over-year in March.<br \/>\nSwift Current (+14.6%)<br \/>\nBattlefords (+5.4%)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Manitoba<\/strong><br \/>\nThe province saw an average price increase by 1.8% year-over-year in March, led by Thompson and Winnipeg (+2.3%)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ontario<\/strong><br \/>\nIt\u2019s not all about Toronto in Ontario, with several markets seeing impressive price gains last March.<br \/>\nNiagara Falls\/Fort Erie: (+30.7%)<br \/>\nKawartha Lakes (Lindsay): (+22.6%)<br \/>\nOakville-Milton: (+22.3%)<br \/>\nYork Region: (18.2%)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>New Brunswick<\/strong><br \/>\nNorther New Brunswick (+12.2%)<br \/>\nMoncton (+9.7%)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nova Scotia<\/strong><br \/>\nYarmouth (+20.1%)<br \/>\nCape Breton (+8.1%)<br \/>\nSouth Shore (+5.7%)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadianrealestatemagazine.ca\/news\/sizzling-markets-on-investors-radar-205954.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Sizzling Markets on Investors\u2019 Radar<\/a> by Justin da Rosa | Canadian Real Estate Wealth<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are the markets investors may want to target, if current trends continue.
