{"id":24095,"date":"2024-06-18T15:15:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T22:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?p=24095"},"modified":"2024-06-17T09:34:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-17T16:34:47","slug":"cmhc-the-annual-pace-of-housing-starts-climbed-10-m-m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/2024\/06\/cmhc-the-annual-pace-of-housing-starts-climbed-10-m-m\/","title":{"rendered":"CMHC : The Annual Pace of Housing Starts Climbed 10% Y\/Y"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">OTTAWA \u2014 Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. says the annual pace of housing starts in May climbed 10% compared with April, helped by gains in Montreal and Toronto.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The housing agency says the seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts in May amounted to 264,506 units, up from 241,111 in April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The move came as the annual pace of starts in Montreal more than doubled with an increase of 104% and Toronto gained 47%, both boosted by multi-unit starts. The pace of starts in Vancouver for May fell 32% compared with April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CMHC says the overall annual pace of urban housing starts was 246,111 units in Canada, up 11% from 221,376 in April.
