{"id":2421,"date":"2016-06-21T10:10:29","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T17:10:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?p=2421"},"modified":"2016-06-20T09:42:53","modified_gmt":"2016-06-20T16:42:53","slug":"this-is-why-2017-will-continue-to-be-a-great-year-for-investor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/2016\/06\/this-is-why-2017-will-continue-to-be-a-great-year-for-investor\/","title":{"rendered":"This is Why 2017 Will Continue to be A Great Year for Investor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The record-low mortgage rate environment seems poised to continue, according to a recent forecast from the British Columbia Real Estate Real Estate Association.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cGiven the current outlook for economic growth, the likelihood of the Canadian economy returning to its full-potential level before 2018 remains low,\u201d BCREA said in its forecast. \u201cThat means that inflation should remain below target over the next two years, keeping the Bank on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It\u2019s been 14 consecutive months of stability for the Bank of Canada\u2019s benchmark for its overnight rate, and mortgage rates have remained relatively steady as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Canadian economy has recovered somewhat from 2015, but not enough to warrant a hike to the BoC\u2019s rate. That means homebuyers and, indeed, investors will continue to benefit from record-low rates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The BCREA expects the economy to grow 1.5% for the rest of the year before increasing to 2.3% in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite this, short-term rate decisions will be based on factors outside the country, according to the association.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe outlook for mortgage rates continues to hinge on factors external to Canada, namely the direction of oil prices and the direction of US monetary policy. With regard to oil, prices have moved higher recently, but still remain well short of levels from two years ago.
