By combining interest\u2011free loans, premium refunds, repayable loans and targeted rebates, these programs make it easier to invest in measures that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cut energy bills.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Federal Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Canada Greener Homes Loan<br \/>\nThrough the Canada\u202fGreener Homes Loan, eligible homeowners can access interest\u2011free financing ranging from\u202f$5,000 to\u202f$40,000 to cover the cost of recommended retrofits, from insulation upgrades to heat pump installations. This loan program remains open to new applicants and has been bolstered by an additional $600\u202fmillion in federal funding to meet ongoing demand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CMHC Eco Plus<br \/>\nHomebuyers and builders who secure CMHC\u2011insured financing for an energy\u2011efficient property may qualify for Eco\u202fPlus, which refunds up to 25% of their mortgage loan insurance premium. To participate, applicants must submit a certified energy report and their refund application within 24\u202fmonths of the mortgage closing date.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Canada Greener Affordable Housing Program<br \/>\nDesigned for affordable housing providers, the Canada\u202fGreener Affordable Housing program lends up to 100% of eligible deep retrofit costs for multi\u2011unit buildings at least 20\u202fyears old. Loans are structured with up to $85,000\u202fper unit forgivable, and the balance offered at low interest, capped at $170,000 per unit. Applications are accepted year\u2011round through CMHC\u2019s online portal for professional and non\u2011profit housing organizations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Provincial and Territorial Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">British Columbia<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program<br \/>\nAdministered by BC\u202fHydro, FortisBC and CleanBC, this suite of rebates covers a wide range of upgrades, including high\u2011performance windows, doors, insulation, heat pumps and heat pump water heaters, totalling up to $14,000 per household. Homeowners may bundle multiple upgrades to maximize their rebate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Qu\u00e9bec<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">R\u00e9noclimat Program<br \/>\nQu\u00e9bec\u2019s R\u00e9noclimat program offers customized energy evaluations and financial assistance for energy-efficiency upgrades in single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, and small multi-unit buildings. Grant amounts vary depending on the type of work completed, such as insulation, air sealing, window and door replacement, or heating system upgrades. To qualify, homeowners must own a dwelling located in Qu\u00e9bec and complete both a pre- and post-retrofit evaluation by a certified energy advisor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Smart Planning Beyond the Incentives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While grants and rebates can ease the financial burden of retrofitting your home, but regardless of eligibility or program availability, energy upgrades should be approached with a long-term mindset and a view to the overall goal of reducing costs and consumption.
