When the snow begins to melt away and the temperatures begin to climb, it\u2019s often the ideal time to begin getting your yard ready for spring. There are flowers to plant, trees and shrubs to trim and grass to fertilize. The sooner you begin preparing, the sooner you will be able to enjoy the beauty of a new seasons with all of the bright colors and scents that come along.<\/p>\n

Spring Cleaning<\/strong>
\nBefore you do any work in the yard, you need to do a little cleaning. Remove the leaves and limbs that are in the way, and make sure there isn\u2019t any trash in the yard that would hinder the process of preparing the yard for the season. When you mow, the items that are in the yard can get stuck underneath the mower, and there\u2019s a chance that a limb or even a rock might get tossed into a window.<\/p>\n

Tree Trimming<\/strong>
\nThis is a time of the year when you want to trim the limbs of the trees along with shaping up the shrubs. A company like Smitty\u2019s Tree Service Inc. can do the work for you if you don\u2019t have the tools or if you aren\u2019t physically capable of getting to the top of the tree. When you trim the trees and shrubs, it gets the dead ends off, making the plants healthier. It\u2019s similar to cutting the dead ends off of your hair so that it can grow evenly.<\/p>\n

Fertilizing<\/strong>
\nIf you want green grass and a yard that is healthy, then consider spreading fertilizer across the yard as soon as possible. It\u2019s best to wait until the last freeze so that the fertilizer isn\u2019t killed in any way. You also want to use a weed killer. After about six weeks, you want to apply the fertilizer again to ensure that the grass will accept the product.<\/p>\n

Mowing<\/strong>
\nEven if there isn\u2019t a lot of grass in the yard yet, you should begin mowing in the early spring. This will keep the dead ends of the grass cut away and make the lawn look manicured. You should mow as soon as you see that it\u2019s growing instead of waiting to mow once a week or every other week. As you mow, the grass will begin to get thicker, giving you a full lawn instead of one that is scraggly.<\/p>\n

Taking care of the yard for spring can be a chore. Spread out the tasks that you have to complete so that everything isn\u2019t done in one day. Watch the weather, and get what you can done when it\u2019s warm and sunny outside.<\/p>\n
