{"id":505,"date":"2016-01-04T14:08:48","date_gmt":"2016-01-04T22:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?p=505"},"modified":"2016-01-04T14:08:57","modified_gmt":"2016-01-04T22:08:57","slug":"canada-among-top-countries-for-stable-real-estate-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/2016\/01\/canada-among-top-countries-for-stable-real-estate-investment\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada Among Top Countries for Stable Real Estate Investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Canada remains a safe bet for investors in the global property game, the results of a new survey from the Association of Foreign Investment in Real Estate (AFIRE) suggest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As part of its 2016 Foreign Investment Survey, AFIRE asked its 200 worldwide members \u2014 which include major real estate owner and developer Oxford Properties Group and a number of Canadian pension funds \u2014 what country offers the most stability and security when it comes to real estate investment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although just 6% of respondents chose Canada, that was good enough to earn the country fourth on the list, a spot it has occupied the past three years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere were only six countries that even got votes,\u201d James Fetgatter, AFIRE\u2019s CEO, tells BuzzBuzzHome News. Fetgatter explains the question was \u201copen-ended,\u201d therefore respondents could have picked any country. \u201cThere\u2019s clearly some interest in Canada because it is such a stable and secure market,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The US was by far the most popular choice, however, commanding 60% of all votes, followed by Germany at 19 per cent and the UK at 9%. Canada bested Australia\u2019s 4% and the Netherlands\u2019 2%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though Canada managed to make the top five once again, its performance falls short of what Fetgatter calls \u201cthe significant number\u201d from 2012, when it garnered 18 per cent of the vote and was ranked second. \u201cI think you could probably attribute that to the price of oil, perhaps,\u201d says Fetgatter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The survey also asked respondents to name their leading cities for real estate investment. Canada was represented here, too, albeit at the bottom. Calgary and Toronto tied in the 27th spot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, three stateside cities made the top 5 : New York led all cities, Los Angeles was second, and San Francisco equaled Paris\u2019 fifth-place performance.
