Writing down your answers will help keep your search on track.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is your ideal neighborhood?<\/strong><br \/>\nDo you have to have a place that\u2019s near the newest bars, shops and restaurants or are you looking for a quieter, family friendly area? Remember that you\u2019re not only renting the home, but you\u2019re also renting a home in a particular locale. Make sure that you are happy with the area before you search.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What kind of building do you want?<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen you think about your ideal building do you envision a single family home with a yard or do you want the type of community and amenities that a large apartment complex offers? If you prefer to be on a first-name basis with your landlord then perhaps a single family home or a small multi-family home like a duplex would suit you best.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How big a place do you need?<\/strong><br \/>\nThink about what kind of space you need and can afford in a home. If it\u2019s just you, are you comfortable with a studio or do you need extra space for a home office or guest room? If you have a roommate, a spouse or a family, think about the amount of space you will need for everyone. And remember: Square footage equals money.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is the parking situation?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you have a car, make sure that you know what kind of parking will be available, whether it\u2019s off street, a designated space or a garage. It also would be good to find out where your guests can park if they drive to come visit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Do they allow pets?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn tight rental markets it\u2019s not uncommon to have pet restrictions on rental homes. If you have a pet, be sure to ask if the landlord allows pets, what type of deposit you will need to pay or if there is a pet rent. Some landlords may also have breed restrictions, so be sure to ask about that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What amenities do you want?<\/strong><br \/>\nThink about what amenities you would like in a rental home, from something simple like on-site laundry or a dishwasher to something extravagant like a door man, gym or pool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What aesthetics do you want to avoid?<\/strong><br \/>\nIs there a d\u00e9cor you would can\u2019t stand? Wall-to-wall carpet, outdated appliances or faux granite countertops? Think about what you will and won\u2019t compromise on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What kind of natural light do you prefer?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf the bedroom window faces east, you\u2019ll be greeted by bright-and-early sunshine. Also, think about your particular climate and what kind of lighting best suits your needs. Though it may seem like a small detail, it\u2019s good consider it before you move in and have a really hot room in an afternoon or a cold room in the morning, depending on climate and orientation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What kind of outdoor space do you want?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn a lot of cities, outdoor space can be hard to come by, but if it\u2019s available, what type of outdoor space would you want?
