{"id":6000,"date":"2017-05-31T11:11:06","date_gmt":"2017-05-31T18:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/?p=6000"},"modified":"2017-05-26T13:46:17","modified_gmt":"2017-05-26T20:46:17","slug":"whos-buying-homes-in-greater-vancouver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/2017\/05\/whos-buying-homes-in-greater-vancouver\/","title":{"rendered":"Who&#8217;s Buying Homes in Greater Vancouver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For many first-time homebuyers, sky-high Vancouver home prices aren\u2019t enough to stop them from entering the market, suggests a poll from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In fact, 32% of all homebuyers in Greater Vancouver during the year ending in April were purchasing residential real estate for the very first time, according to REBGV.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/HB-description.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6001\" src=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/HB-description-300x140.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"508\" height=\"237\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/HB-description-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/HB-description.png 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meantime, Vancouverites looking to purchase a dwelling similar to their current one comprised almost 19% of homebuyers over the past year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">REBGV, which consists of more than 13,500 realtors in the region, surveyed its members who represented homebuyers from April 2016 to April 2017 to determine purchaser demographics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The poll suggests families with children represented 35.5% of homebuyers from April 2016 to the same month this year. Young childless couples followed at 16%, while single men accounted for a 13.3% share of buyers over that period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Demographics.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Demographics-300x139.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"507\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Demographics-300x139.png 300w, https:\/\/www.roryc.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Demographics.png 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The majority of buyers are from Greater Vancouver. Some 38% of recent homebuyers surveyed were purchasing a home in the same community they previously lived in, while 36% were from outside of the region and 14% were investors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Buyers continued to show strong interest in viewing properties before buying.
