It suggests potential income could be $128 per night based on a big city average.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Altus Group, which provides real estate research, said its FIRM survey from the summer of 2016, found seven per cent of those with a mortgage had used a short-term accommodation service. Millennials in Canada\u2019s four largest cities, who also had a mortgage, rented out space short-term 22% of the time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Genworth has few other interesting ways to pull some income out of your home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 Rent out your home as a film location or commercial location. It could pay $500 or $1,000 per day but you\u2019ll have to meet municipal bylaws and have a plan for damages.<br \/>\n\u2022 Unused parking spots can generate up to $140 per month in big cities but you need the space to fit that extra car without damage.<br \/>\n\u2022 Have an empty garage? That could be band\u2019s rehearsal space or some else\u2019s auto repair shop and generate $220 per month.<br \/>\n\u2022 Open your home to dogs. Genworth says you can make $25 to $40 per night sheltering pets for owners on vacation.<br \/>\n\u2022 Let someone grow vegetables in your backyard. The pay off could be organic produce.<br \/>\n\u2022 Lease your roof to a solar energy company. Your roof needs to be in good shape but the average rental is $300 to $450 per year.<br \/>\n\u2022 Host an international student. A spare bedroom could be worth $600 to $800 per month for room and board.<br \/>\n\u2022 Rent out a basement. Genworth cautions the unit should be legal but a bachelor apartment could fetch $600 to $1,300 per month.<br \/>\n\u2022 Share stuff from around your home like power tools.
