A housewarming party would be just the thing, but you just don’t know where to even start. The following four tips will help you on your way to the most memorable party ever.

Design a Unique and Inviting Invitation

Sit down and create a unique and attractive invitation to your event. Maybe do a “before” and “after” motif, with a picture of your old house and your new house side by side. A pen-and-ink drawing of your new home on the front of the invite can also very artistic and help your guests find your home quickly and easily. Be very specific as to the address, starting and ending times, and what type of event to expect. For example, if it is held in the middle of the afternoon, you may want to mention finger foods so the guests don’t expect a full meal.

Invite the New Neighbors

This is a great method of meeting those who live in your neighborhood. Deliver the notes in person so you can introduce yourself and get a feel for who lives where. Make a point of conversing with them while giving them a short tour to get to know them better.

Utilize Food Stations

Instead of having just one large food area in the kitchen or living area, break up the foods throughout the house. Meet your guests with a tray of appetizers in hand and then scatter other choices on various serving tables and carts in the living room, family room, kitchen, office, and even in the bedrooms. Weather permitting, the patio can be the final stop with desserts and coffee for all. Make the food selections easy to eat from small paper or plastic plates; finger foods are usually the most practical.

Select and Serve a Variety of Beverages

Have at least two areas of self-serve beverages. One should be very near the front entrance and the other about halfway through the house. Include items that can be picked up and poured easily without having to be mixed such as sodas, juices, beer, and wine. Wines should include reds, whites, and maybe champagne. Disposable glasses for all beverages will make it much safer as guests move around and clean-up much simpler.

These tips should have you well on your way to a fun and successful gathering. Keep these tips in mind the very next time you host an event in your home. Your new home will soon be the hub of activity with many new and old friends and family to share it with.
