Preparing to redecorate your home can be a daunting prospect. Sometimes you decide to redecorate due to a desire for a fresh, new home environment. Other times, you might want to redo your home due to damage like mold or smoke affecting all or part of your house. Whatever your reason, you’ll likely want to move the redecorating project along quickly so that you can be done with the mess that such a large-scale project can entail as soon as possible. Here are four ways you can make the redecorating process more efficient :

Buy Supplies in Advance
Don’t buy materials as you need them for each step of the process. It may seem easier not to stock up on everything before you get started to avoid crowding your workspace or filling the garage, however, you can save time and, in some cases, money by purchasing everything needed before you get started. For one thing, you can buy in bulk, which is often cheaper. For another, you might be able to take advantage of a sales event or rebate. You’ll also have everything ready so that you won’t have to take breaks and run out to buy supplies.

Rent a Dumpster
Even if you plan to redecorate more so than renovate your home, it’s always a good idea to rent a roll-off dumpster for at least a week or two. Discarding old wallpaper and worn carpet or linoleum is easier when you can toss the used materials into a trash bin. You won’t have to worry about bagging up the waste and hoping the regular trash service will take the excess with your regular garbage. In addition, packing materials can be tossed into the bin to keep your home organized and tidy.

Hire Painters
Redecorating a home often includes painting several rooms. While it can be satisfying and even fun to paint a room or two, repainting the whole house takes a lot of time and effort. Instead of doing all the prep, painting and cleanup yourself, hire professional painters to do the work for you. Their experience enables them to work quickly and methodically to do a great job without leaving a mess behind. Professional painters can also do the more specialized work that is required when painting around detailed wall moldings or other special elements in your home.

Clean Up as You Work
When stocking up before starting, include cleaning supplies. Clean up each work area as you finish instead of waiting to do it all when you’re done. This will help to prevent anyone from tracking dust, paint chips and scattered debris like screws or nails from one room to the next.

Get organized and be prepared before starting your redecorating project. Following the steps mentioned above could make the work more cost- and time-effective.
